Artist Profile

Born in 1996 in the south of the United States of America, hrewannabe spent her youth being immersed in a variety of artistic mediums from dance to singing and their preferred fine art : drawing. Most of her skills have been learned via osmosis from family or family friends, though they’ve had the odd art class here and there over the years. This has allowed them to explore the basics such as pencil, pastels and acrylic paint to more niche art such as ceramics, wax and gourd burning.

When hrewannabe started college, she took her first step into the world of digital art. She had messed around with MS Paint and Corel Draw as a child but it had never been anything serious. Throughout the first four years she moved from browser based drawing systems and using a laptop track pad to programs like SAI, Kritia and then finally settling on Clip Studio. She would do the same with her tools going from a track pad, to a mouse and then finally buying a Turcom off a friend that had bought the wrong tablet for an art class at a community college.

hrewannabe attended a four-year university where she attained a Bachelor's of Art in History, before attending a two-year Master's program that they graduated in the Fall of 2020 with a Masters’ in American History while working full time. They’ve since taken a break from schooling.

Tools of the Trade

Here are the items I use the most in my art. These are the supplies that I like the most and use the most frequently. For watercolors I do a pencil sketch majority of the time and then line with markers or pens. While I've mostly moved away from using alcohol markers I use them to touch up my watercolors sometimes.
